Hide and Seek


Level 1. Literal Meaning (we find evidence in the text)
  • the person hid in the tool shed.
  • he hide under sacks.
  • The floor was cold.
Level 2. Inferential Meaning (we read between the lines to infer what the writer has implied)
  • the sacks have had seaweed or beachwood in them at some stage.
  • They gave up after a while.
  • they find him but tell him and leave him there.
Level 3. Applied Meaning (we decide what the author might think from what has been said)
  • sometimes children are mean when playing hide and seek
  • The boy who hide  under the sacks won
